Catbridge talks about
recent slitter innovations in PFFC magazine
Michael Pappas, Catbridge president, wrote a feature article on slitter
rewinder innovations for the June 2011 issue of PFFC. In the article, Michael
discusses recent technologies that substantially increase productivity by
targeting downtime at key points in the slitting process. Innovative turret
winders with features to fully automate the cutoff and transfer process between sets, for
example, can achieve at least 2 to 3 times more productivity than conventional
winders. Many of these time-saving technologies also improve finished roll
quality and minimize waste. Tips on assessing needs and determining return on investment are
included in the article.
